Roof lanterns

A roof lantern puts height and light into a flat-roofed extension. This one runs to 2000mm wide and 4500mm long on a fixed 25 degree pitch, with a minimum ridge of 300mm. We cut and build the frames here rather than order them in.

Get the ridge right first

The minimum ridge length is 300mm. That is the flat run along the top, and it is the figure that catches people out, because a lantern designed to a width and a length without checking the ridge can end up a shape the system will not make. Send us the opening size and we will tell you the lantern that comes out of it before anyone orders glass.

Fixed pitch

25 degrees, fixed. That is not an adjustable system. It means the height of the ridge follows from the width, which is worth knowing if there is a headroom or planning constraint above the extension.

Sizes

Up to 2000mm wide and up to 4500mm long. The long dimension carries a qualifying note in the manufacturer's literature that is not explained on it, so if your job is at or near the maximum, ring us and we will confirm it with Smart rather than quote to a limit we cannot stand behind.

Lanterns or flat rooflights

If you want the light without the shape, look at the Aliver flat rooflight instead. A lantern is the right answer when the room needs the volume; a flat rooflight is the right answer when the roof needs to stay a roof.
